Hearing aid – DIY

I found a blog page about making a low cost hearing aid and I wanted to build one to see if it could replace expensive devices.

so, mine uses:

  • a PowerBoost 1000 Charger from Adafruit that allows me to power the thing with a LiPo battery and even recharge through USB
  • a PAM8406 to amplify everything
  • an Electret Microphone Amplifier – MAX9814 with Auto Gain Control

It just works awesome. Since I never had good hears I really can hear everything in the room from the distance. Just so cool.

I added an additional switch to disengage the battery. Avoiding useless consumption.
